12/10 - 12/14: Internet Safety - Email, Downloads & Pop Ups

Students will learn how to avoid the dangers of some emails, downloads and pop ups by viewing chapters 4-7 of The Safe Side video. Students will create a venn diagram comparing and contrasting email vs. regular mail to highlight added dangers that could be hidden in emails.

11/13-11/26: Trimester Wrap Up

5th & 4th Grades: It's the beginning of a new quarter!  Are all your books turned in? Do you have an outstanding fine for a lost book?  Today we're going to find out, and take care of all our library problems.  We'll also be reading aloud a biography: Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade by Melissa Sweet.




Third Grade: It's our last week together!  Let's see what we've learned.  Take a few minutes to complete this online quiz to show what you know!



Kindergarten: This week we're reading Gracias the Thanksgiving Turkey by Joy Cowley.  We'll also be making our own Thanksgiving Turkey online!

5th & 4th Grade students will do a scavenger hunt using my blog: Miss Media and learn about the use of User Names and Passwords.
Kinders will have a read aloud, The Ugly Pumpkin, then explore ABCYa

10/30 - 11/5 Quiz Review & Cyber Snakes

5th & 4th Grade students will be reviewing their Dewey Decimal quiz. As well as have a short story read aloud from, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
3rd Grade will learn about Cyber Snakes and other Internet Villans with John Walsh's video.
Kinder will have a read aloud It's Pumpkin Time, as well as carve virtual pumpkins.

5th & 4th Grade:
Students will show their understanding of the Dewey Decimal system by completing an assessment.

3rd Grade:
Students will be introduced to Internet Safety through John Walsh's Internet Safety Video, chapters 1-3. Students will Venn Diagram how the Internet is like/unlike their own neighborhood.

Kindergarten:
The "Queen of the Library" will review library rules, computer parts and use rules.  We will read aloud Hallo-Weiner by Dav Pilkey.  Students will carve virtual pumpkins on www.abcya.com.

10/10 - 10/16: Superhero Presentations, Cybersnakes & other Internet Villains, and Tech Intro

Lessons 10/10 - 10/16

5th & 4th Grade:
Students will virtually meet Felix Baumgartner - modern day superhero and daredevil.  They will discuss what kind of book might be written about Felix that would be placed in their Dewey section, which their superhero would need to defend.  Students will present their superhero.


3rd Grade:
Internet Safety - Cybersnakes and other Internet Villians.  Students will watch chapters 7 to the end of John Walsh's Internet Safety video.  Students will create a cause and effect chart showing the effects of giving out personal information on the internet.


Kindergarten:
Library Computers Introduction - The "Queen of the Library" will review library rules with the students.  We will read aloud the second half of Library Lion and discuss the consequences of breaking the rules in the library.  Students will be introduced to the different parts of the computer, and how to care and use them.

10/3 - 10/9: Superheroes, Internet Safety & Kinder Fun

Lessons 10/3 - 10/9:
5th & 4th Grade:  Students will continue the creation of their Dewey Superhero.  They will create a symbol to represent their character, as well as a portrait, and illustration of their character in action.  They will glue their project together and prepare for presentations next week.

3rd Grade: Internet Email - Safety Mail vs. Danger Mail.  Students will watch chapters 3-6 of John Walsh's Internet Safety video.  We will create a venn diagram comparing and contrasting the two type of mail, so students will be able to identify dangerous mail to avoid.


Kindergarten:  Students will be introduced to the library with a tour.  Library rules will be discussed with the "Queen of the Library" puppet.  The read aloud of the week is the first part of Library Lion, by  Michelle Knudsen.  Students will discuss the rules in Library Lion compared to our library rules.

Students will show their understanding of the different nonfiction Dewey Decimal sections by creating a Superhero with characteristics from one of the sections
